Cats Love Christmas Trees

Bookmark and Share

It is just natural for cats to love trees and want to climb them. I have not had a Christmas tree in my home for nine years. Lexie, the oldest thinks that trees are for climbing. Although the Christmas tree is artificial makes no difference. Getting up to the top is the important thing. If the lights or the ornaments get in the way, so be it. If the tree falls over, run and hide because someone is going to get yelled at.

I have always had Christmas trees and cats. Never did I have so many problems until I got Lexie. Now, we have no trees in the house. I am not sure what the other two will do if we ever put up a tree, but I am not sure the aggravation is worth it. Instead of a tree, I put a few decorations around the house including a ceramic tree with lights. This does not fascinate any of the cats.

The Life Of A Cat

Bookmark and Share
Cats have the easy life. They can sit around all day. They can sleep all day. They never have to work and get all the food they want. Cats have the easy life. My cats have special times when they need attention from me. Lexie needs to walk on me in bed. She is the oldest and has just recently become very affectionate. Jasmine has an attitude problem and wants my attention in the morning when I get up and every time I light a cigarette. Hence, the tiny burn mark in the carpet. Bella is a whenever I think I need it cat. Bella usually comes at night or anytime you have food.

The cats need attention, but so do the dogs. Anytime the cat gets attention, little Jake needs attention. I swear it is worst than having kids. Jake goes so far as to chase the cats away and then leaves me sit all alone. That is only because he is terrorizing the cats. It sounds like he is killing them, but they are actually licking his butt. He never learns. He will chase those cats and then they turn on him and chase him. Many times he has come and hid by my feet so Bella, the big cat cannot get him.

Ah, my life is so full of excitement.

Cats Everywhere Are Driving Me Nuts

Bookmark and Share
Now, I love cats and have three of my own. Yes, they stay in the house, well the oldest escapes from time to time, but stays in her yard. Now, you may remember the neighbor cat harassing my cat and the dog. Now there is another one. This might explain why the neighbor cat insists on spraying my pine tree in the front of the house just a short five feet away from my front door. Come on people, it is summer out and I have the doors and windows open. I do not appreciate smelling your cat.

The newest stranger to the neighborhood is a pretty little gray cat. It has taken to sitting outside my living room window and hollowing for my cats and of course the dog. I swear this cat is trying to get a male to come out and play. My male is fixed and does not go outside. He does not even want to go to the window. I assume this cat is trying to cat the cat that is scenting my tree.

I tried to explain to this cat that I have no interest in it sitting outside my window howling and driving my animal's nuts and me. You think it would leave and find another family to pick on, but know, I chased it away and walked back into the house and that darn thing came back. Now, I believe in freedom to go where you want, but not by my open window in the living room. If I shut that window, it will get very hot in the house.

Well, I went to bed instead and took everyone with me. Tonight we will see if it comes back for a visit. I sure hope not. I really do not want to go to bed early again.

Cat Intelligence

Bookmark and Share
You will find out that once a cat learns something, it will never forget. Even if your cat learns something that you would prefer it did not know, it will retain this information for life. Cat intelligence is high and they can remember everything. For instance, taking a kitten that was born outdoors will learn to hunt for food. When you bring this cat indoors, its memory will remain.

If the cat would get outside, it will naturally hunt for food. Even the best-fed cat indoors will still have that instinct to hunt for food. It may not eat its catch, but it will have the memory of how to hunt and bring home the catch.

If the cat would have a bad experience with a dog, it will retain that memory and believe that all dogs are bad and should be avoided. It may have had to defend itself from the dog and will continue to do this for every dog. You can however, teach the cat that the dog is nice by introducing them to each other for a few minutes every day.

Cat intelligence is higher than a humans is. If you cat has heard you rattle a bag and then produce a treat for them, they will come running every time you bring home a bag, even if it only happened once or twice. They associate that sound with a treat. You will be surprised at what your cat remembers.
