Soft Claws Caps For Your Cat

Bookmark and Share
The Soft Claws Caps are said to be safe for cats. The product sounds interesting and easy enough to use, but, have you ever tried to get the cats claws out and try to put a glue soaked tiny cap on it. Come on. I know my cats and they are not going to fall for this at all.

Yes, the product is an alternative to declawing the cats. However, to what extent are people willing to go through to cap those claws? You know how tiny cat's claws are and they have to be manual forced out. Then you have to take this tiny cap, get the glue inside and slip it onto each claw. Two paws times five claws is ten times you have to do this.

Soft Claws Caps you say. I see mess, cat scratches, cat cries and even blood. I see torment and frustration. I see horror in my eyes as the cats claws stick into my arms and hands.

I think I will live with the occasional scratching at the chair or the carpet. I think I will live with the kneading on mom's stomach or rib cage and the little whimpers because of pain that comes out of my mouth.

Soft Claws Caps might be good for some, but not these cats or their mom.

Cat Litter And Your Cats Health

Bookmark and Share
When you are looking for cat litter, you have to consider the litter and your cat's health. Every cat litter acts a different way when you pour it and when the cat uses it. There are some must needed considerations to think about when you are looking for cat litter.

The dust from some cat litters may affect your cat's health. The dust can cause illnesses in a cat. One problem is asthma. The dust can trigger an asthma condition in a cat. Clumping cat litter that is used for kittens can affect a kittens health if they were to try to eat there own urine or feces, which is rare but not uncommon. The litter that they eat can clump in the stomachs and cause serious health issues.

Scented cat litter can irritate a cat's sense of smell. Another problem with scented cat litter is that if the cat does not like the scent, they will avoid the cat box altogether. The other thing you need to think about when buying cat litter is if it is biodegradable or natural.

You need to think about your cat before buying cat litter. Look for the best cat litter that is not going to cause your cat health problems.

Cats Love Christmas Trees

Bookmark and Share

It is just natural for cats to love trees and want to climb them. I have not had a Christmas tree in my home for nine years. Lexie, the oldest thinks that trees are for climbing. Although the Christmas tree is artificial makes no difference. Getting up to the top is the important thing. If the lights or the ornaments get in the way, so be it. If the tree falls over, run and hide because someone is going to get yelled at.

I have always had Christmas trees and cats. Never did I have so many problems until I got Lexie. Now, we have no trees in the house. I am not sure what the other two will do if we ever put up a tree, but I am not sure the aggravation is worth it. Instead of a tree, I put a few decorations around the house including a ceramic tree with lights. This does not fascinate any of the cats.

A Bug In The Bedroom Is Deadly

Bookmark and Share
I am lucky to have a king sized waterbed with a regular mattress in it. Last night, Bella, Lexie and Jasmine saw a bug flying around the bedroom. Two dogs in bed already, one man and me. Add the cats and a bug and someone is going to get hurt. That someone was me.

Bella jumped up on the bed, as I was just about to fall asleep and landed on top of me with all four sets of claws out. The Jasmine jumped on my legs with claws out and Lexie just started chattering as she always does before the kill. This poor bug didn't stand a chance. Cats running wild around the bed chasing this bug. My head was not off limits either. All I could do is close my eyes and hope that no one clawed me in the eyes.

Things calmed down after a while and everyone sat on the bed with their heads moving around the room looking. Where the bug went I don’t know. I finally fell asleep for a couple hours until I was jumped on again. The bug was back and so were the cats. Now the dogs are in on the action. My dogs think they must chase bugs with the cats.

The bug is gone. Who got it is a mystery, but this post is late today, because I had a lack of sleep and just could not function today.

How was your night?

Cooking In My House

Bookmark and Share

When you cook something in my house, you have to be very careful what you are doing. The slightest wrong move means a stampede to the lost forever food. The eldest of all the animals takes her throne on the edge of the counter. If there is any food to be had that does not hit the floor, she needs to make sure she is the first to get it. Since she is the oldest, she is starting to move a little slower and does not want to be stepped on by the others on the floor.

This of course is not how I cook. Everyone knows that dad is the easy one and mom does not drop food or give them food while she is cooking. When I cook, I only have the dogs on the floor to step over, but when dad cooks, he has the entire gang laying in wait of that tiny spec of food that will hit the floor.

Do You Remember This Cat

Bookmark and Share
I wrote this a while ago for another site, but decided to bring it back because of the need to remember that cats that are unwanted need to be taken to a shelter and not discarded like an old piece of furniture.

You know that cute little kitty you had sitting on your lap for the first three months until she started getting bigger. You remember, she was the one who loved you unconditionally. She purred at the site of you, when you touched her she purred and melted right into your lap. That beautiful little kitten was growing up and she loved you so much. She was a good kitty who was litter trained and wanted to be with you and make you feel loved just like she was. You remember her, her name was Saddy. She would come when you called her name and purr up a storm.

She was your beautiful little calico kitten who was becoming a big girl. She needed to be spayed and have her claws taken care of so she did not claw the furniture. She loved to play with her catnip toys. Oh, how she rolled around having so much fun. She was so cute to watch play. You remember Saddy, she was your cat. Oh, that cat was your true companion. She made you smile and laugh. She taught you that anybody could love a pet so much that it hurts when they are gone.

Do you remember her now? You decided that you did not want to spend the money to get her spay and declawed so you took her out in the country and dropped her off. Don’t tell me you have forgotten her already. She loved you and trusted you. She was a beautiful and loving little girl. I know you have to remember the unconditional love she gave you.

After you dropped Saddy off in the middle of nowhere, I was riding down the road and hit her by accident. Do you even care? Do you remember her? She loved you and you left her to die. I tried to save her. I rushed her to a vet and it was too late, she was looking at me with those beautiful big eyes, wanting to know where her mom was. She was going to die and she wanted you, her mom, even though you killed her by dropping her off.

I was crying so hard I was no comfort to her. I had accidentally hit this poor little girl that you left for me to find. I could not control myself any longer. I had to leave her. The vet put her down. I hope you know that she was looking for you with sadness in her eyes. Do you remember her? She was your beloved kitty that got to be more than what you wanted. She wanted love and you, I don’t know what you wanted, but I guess it was not her.

You could have given her to me or to the humane society. She would have found a new mom. Someone would have loved her unconditionally as well. She was adorable and you left her to die a horrible death of pain and sadness. Do you remember her name? Her name was Saddy and she is in heaven now with all the other unwanted and abandoned pets. Remember her now?

Bella, Bella, My Big Boy

Bookmark and Share

Yes, Bella is a boy. A very large boy with a girl's name. Bella was supposedly a girl when I brought her home. A few months later, she finally developed and I learned I had a male in a home with two female cats and a female dog. My house was all females until Bella won my heart.

Bella needed a brother, so I brought home Jake. He is a little Pekingese/Shiz Tzu. Bella is bigger than Jake is and everyone knows it. They are the best of friends and play all the time. The only problem is that Bella kicks Jake's butt all the time. Bella pounces on Jake and pins him to the floor. He never cries, he loves the attention. Bella has his front claws, but never uses them on Jake no matter what he does to him.

Pooh Bear the Pekingese and the two female cats just stay away and watch these two play. Pooh is nine and only plays with Jake once and a while so Jake has no choice but to wake Bella out of deep sleep to play. This cat is a heavy sleeper. The other day Bella was sleeping on a folded comforter on the dining room chair. For some reason the comforter fell off the chair with the cat.

I was worried because there was no movement from Bella. Upon investigating, I saw two back legs sticking up in the air as stiff as can be. I though Bella was dead. I lifted up the comforter and woke him up. Bella remained sleeping even after falling on the floor with the comforter on top of him. I picked up the comforter and put it back on the chair. Then I picked up Bella and placed him back on the comforter. Bella gave me this look as if I had done something wrong.

I guess the next time, I will just leave him lay there.

The Life Of A Cat

Bookmark and Share
Cats have the easy life. They can sit around all day. They can sleep all day. They never have to work and get all the food they want. Cats have the easy life. My cats have special times when they need attention from me. Lexie needs to walk on me in bed. She is the oldest and has just recently become very affectionate. Jasmine has an attitude problem and wants my attention in the morning when I get up and every time I light a cigarette. Hence, the tiny burn mark in the carpet. Bella is a whenever I think I need it cat. Bella usually comes at night or anytime you have food.

The cats need attention, but so do the dogs. Anytime the cat gets attention, little Jake needs attention. I swear it is worst than having kids. Jake goes so far as to chase the cats away and then leaves me sit all alone. That is only because he is terrorizing the cats. It sounds like he is killing them, but they are actually licking his butt. He never learns. He will chase those cats and then they turn on him and chase him. Many times he has come and hid by my feet so Bella, the big cat cannot get him.

Ah, my life is so full of excitement.

Chasing Is Part Of The Fun When You Are A Cat

Bookmark and Share
Cats do some strange things, but they also chase the strangest things. If you have ever had kittens or cats, you know how much fun they have chasing things. These cats are into chasing, climbing walls and running around all over. My cats do the same things, except they are usually chasing a fly, beetle or moths that get in the house. Here are some cats that needed something to chase so their owner found something to keep their attention. I might add that these cats are not nearly as fast as my three. The fly through the house when they have visitors to chase.
